A FALLEN SOLDIER NOT A FALLEN DREAM

3903-kdfhomecoming-02

I stand and watch as the caskets are slowly lowered from the airplane
It’s so silent
So deathly cold
So dark the wind can’t even breathe
Men in uniform solemnly walk towards the caskets
Draped in our flag that silently mourns
Black
White
Red
Green

A country tears in pain
How blood can be shed so ruthlessly
They gave their life to protect the sanctity of life

Oh God of all creation…
Bless this our Land and Nation…

Our National Anthem plays in my mind
Oh, the sad faces of loved ones
A mother will mourn her son or daughter
A wife will cry for her fatherless children
A husband will tear for children he will not see
Grief haunts
Memories drown
Moments frozen
Honoring our fallen soldiers
We bow our heads and blink back tears
Their bravery will not be forgotten
Shed blood remembered for eternity
I watch fellow soldiers lower their rifles
In respect, honoring those who died in active combat
Silence will not be enough to comfort those that remain
They have protected our Nation’s soil
Not because of
Creed
Tribe
Religion
Color
Race
But because of the love for their Motherland
Love that burned until a bullet tore their very life
Our fallen Soldiers
Have not died with our dream
Dream of a peaceful land
A beautiful land
My land
Salute to our Heroes
Kenya will not forget
Our hearts shall remember
Our Fallen Heroes return back home
Home where their hearts remain
Their ultimate sacrifice unbowed, undimmed, uncompromised
You are Home Soldiers
You are Home
